Goshen, CT - John M. Miller, 91, died Friday, May 11, 2018 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Barbara Halvorsen Miller.
Mr. Miller was born in Minneapolis, MN, on August 15, 1926, son of the late Martin and Jennie (Lindfors) Miller and had been a Goshen resident since 1990. He was a U.S. Army World War II Veteran as a tank commander who faced both the German and then Russian forces. He had been self-employed as a boat builder. A long-term member of Trinity Episcopal Church, he served on the Properties Committee, and also served on the Goshen Land Trust. An avid gardener, he also enjoyed woodworking, drawing & sculpting as well as spending time with his family.
Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Debbi & Richard Benoit of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and Goshen, daughter Amy McEnaney of Venice, FL; a brother, David Miller; grandchildren John Benoit, Stephanie Oliver, Ryan McEnaney, Kevin McEnaney & Timothy McEnaney; 12 great-grandchildren plus nieces & nephews. In addition to his late wife, Mr. Miller was predeceased by brothers Paul Miller and James Miller, sisters Genevieve Minton & Evelyn Miller and two step-siblings Roy Carl Hicks & Mary Angela Carswell.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Goshen Center Cemetery, 5 Sharon Turnpike, Goshen. A memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington.
