John Quinn, Jr. Obituary
Torrington- John W. Quinn, Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of 62 years of Mary Alice (Ackers) Quinn.
Mr. Quinn was born in White Haven, PA, on November 4, 1941, son of the late John W. Quinn, Sr., and Ethel (Snyder) Quinn, and had been a Torrington area resident for the past 45 years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, New Hartford. John was a model train enthusiast and enjoyed fishing, watching his grandchildren’s sporting events, UConn Mens and Womens Basketball, Penn State Football, and the NY Yankees. Prior to the pandemic and his illness, he also enjoyed volunteering at Hands of Grace.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary Alice, include two sons, Scott G. Quinn and his wife, Jennifer, of Torrington, and Eric J. Quinn and his wife, Clarissa, of New Hartford; two daughters, Beth Ann Canny and her husband, Robert, and Jacquelyn L. Wassik and her husband, Thomas, all of Torrington; three brothers, James Quinn, Robert Quinn and his wife, Bonnie, and David Quinn and his wife, Shelly, all of White Haven, PA; two sisters, Katherine Pierce and her husband, Donald, of White Haven, PA, and JoAnn Bove and her husband, Daniel, of NJ; a daughter-in-law, Tracy Quinn of Colebrook; 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great-Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Quinn was predeceased by a son, Steven D. Quinn.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 39 Prospect St., New Hartford. Burial in South Cemetery, Colebrook, will be private. Friends may call Friday, November 8, 2024, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
