Joseph H. Fagnand, Sr.

Harwinton- Joseph H. Fagnand, Sr., 84, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Cherry Brook Health Care Center, Canton. He was the beloved husband of 55 years of Carolyn L. (Armitage) Fagnand.

          Mr. Fagnand was born in Attleboro, MA, on March 18, 1938, son of the late Joseph T. and Bertha M. (Maginnis) Fagnand, and had been a Harwinton resident for most of the last 49 years. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. Joe worked for nearly 15 years with the W.T. Grant Co., followed by almost 14 years with J.C. Penney Co. Mr. Fagnand was an avid reader, especially interested in both American and Foreign History. His favorite pastime was creating and sculpting colorful wool Oriental Rugs. Joe will be remembered most for his humor and contagious laughter.

          Survivors, in addition to his wife, Carolyn, include a son, Joseph H. Fagnand, Jr., of Wellford, SC; three grandchildren, Joseph H. Fagnand, III, Pamela G. Couturier-Wytas, and James D. Couturier; three great-grandchildren, Sophia G. Fagnand, Adaline R. Fagnand, and Jade D. Theriault. Mr. Fagnand was predeceased by his daughter, Susan E. Fagnand, and a sister, Margaret Gould.

          Services will be held Saturday, January 28, 2023, at 1:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial in Lakeview Cemetery, East Hampton, CT, will be held on May 3, 2023, at 11:00a.m. Friends may call Saturday, January 28, 2023, from 12:00p.m. until the time of services.
