Torrington- Joseph Paul “Taco” Kopler, 63, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at his home.
Joseph was born in Torrington on December 11, 1960, son of the late Joseph P. and Carmen I. (Martinez) Kopler, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington, where he had served as an usher. Joe was an active member of the Knights of Columbus Solidarity Council #55 and the Northwest Chamber of Commerce. Joe also loved his coworkers and the work he did at Torrington Distributors Inc. Taco was a passionate advocate for the Downtown Torrington community as well as a lifelong artist who loved this city.
Survivors include a son, Nathan J. Kopler of Torrington; a daughter, Rileigh P. Kopler of Torrington; a stepson, Jason T. VonHoorn of Miami, FL; a brother, Michael J. Kopler and his wife, Dianne; a sister, Patricia J. Sosnowski and her husband, Mark; and a niece, Julia E. Sosnowski, all of Torrington. He was predeceased by his brother, Anthony J. Kopler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St. Torrington. Friends may call Monday, October 21, 2024, from 5:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. A Celebration of Life will be held on a date and time to be announced.
