Torrington- Margaret A. “Peg” (Conboy) Woodin, 87, passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2020 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late William B. Woodin, Sr.
Mrs. Woodin was born in New York City on September 14, 1932, daughter of the late William and Helen (Moore) Conboy, and had been a Torrington resident for over 65 years. She was a graduate of Bishop McDonnell High School in Brooklyn, NY, and Misericordia University in Dallas, PA, where she was a scholarship student and Summa Cum Laude graduate. Peg also attended the School of Banking at Williams College in Williamstown, MA. A longtime fixture in the banking community, Peg was also active in civic affairs. She was a member of Kappa Gamma Pi (National Honor Society of Catholic Women), a founder of the Litchfield County Women’s Network, and a former member of Altrusa International.
Survivors include two sons, William B. Woodin, Jr., and Lawrence C. Woodin and his wife Nancy, all of Torrington; two daughters, Joann C. Woodin and her significant other Edward Nejaime, and Margaret C. Jacobs, all of Torrington; a brother, William Conboy and his wife Nancy of Commack, NY; four grandchildren, Molly Spino, Burton Meyer, III, Helen Jacobs, and Stephanie Woodin; two great-grandchildren, Ryan and Emily Patrick; two former sons-in-law Burton Meyer, Jr., and Alexander W. Jacobs; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to sincerely thank Diane Hart for the care given to Peg, she was a great comfort.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, services and burial in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, will be held privately. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at a date and time to be announced. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
