Marie L. (Merchant) Adams

Marie L. (Merchant) Adams, 97, of Wallingford, CT, passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2024, at Regency House. She was the beloved wife of the late Herbert A. Adams, Jr.

        Mrs. Adams was born in Malden, MA, on October 5, 1927, daughter of the late William and Beatrice (Arsenault) Merchant and raised in Rumford, Maine. She went on to live her life in Connecticut and Maine, making many friends while at the Silver Pond Apartments in Wallingford. While residing in Barkhamsted, she was a member of the Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church. Mrs. Adams was an avid Red Sox fan and loved to dance and sing, always looking forward to the Adams’ Christmas Party. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and true friend to all that knew and loved her.

        Mrs. Adams was the oldest and last member of the Merchant Family, she had 3 brothers and 1 sister. She is survived by her children, Lynne Rescigno and her husband, Anthony, of East Haven, CT and Naples, FL, Sharon Foxx and her husband, Paul, of Clemmons, NC, Pamela Cifone and her husband, Louis, of Norwich, CT, Robert Adams and his partner Beverly Dow of Wildwood, FL, and Scott Adams and his wife, Suzanne, of Wallingford, CT; 18 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

        A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
