Mary Veronica (Pjura) Murach

Mary Veronica Pjura Murach, 94 of Nampa, Idaho, the beloved widow of the late Henry J. Murach, Sr. passed away peacefully on December 21, 2021.  Mary was born in Bridgeport on May 13, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anne Pjura and was a lifelong resident of Bridgeport before moving to Idaho in 2013. 

        Mary was a graduate of SS. Cyril & Methodius Commercial Program.  She was a proud Slovak and lifelong parishioner of SS. Cyril & Methodius Church.  Mary belonged to the St. Joseph’s Society Branch 19 of the First Slovak Union, Slovak Catholic Sokol’s, and served as Past President of Our Lady’s Guild and Senior Group.  She was the “Unofficial Church Photographer” at all events.  In 2006, Mary was awarded the St. Augustine’s Medal of Service for the Diocese of Bridgeport.  In 2008, Mary moved to Nampa, Idaho and became an active member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church; where she was a member of the Divine Mercy Prayer Group, the St. Vincent DePaul’s Society, and the Perpetual Adoration Chapel.

        Mary was preceded by her parents, stepmother Mary Pjura, brothers John (Jean) Pjura, Albert (Jean) Pjura, brothers-in-law Stanley Murach, Adam (Jean) Murach, Chester Murach, Frank (Carol) Murach, sister-in-law Helen Waz and grandson SPC Thomas Murach.

        Mary is survived by her children Mary-Anne Blanford, Stanley (Michie) Murach, Christine (Bill) Dolan, Henry (Jody) Murach, Chester Murach and Stefanie (Ron) Rozanski; grandchildren Cindy, Howard, Christopher, Matthew, Adam, Stephen, Henry III, Gabriella, Nicholas, William, Michael; eight great grandchildren; sister Frances (Dale) Chase, brother Stephen Pjura, special nieces Carole (Kevin) Dake, Lisa Mary Pjura, along with numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. 

        On Saturday January 15, 2022, friends may call at the Blessed Sacrament Church, 275 Union Avenue, Bridgeport, from 9:00 am to 10:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am., celebrated by the Rev. Joseph “Skip” Karcsinski.  Entombment will follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery Garden Mausoleum, Stratford. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
