Mary E. (Torlai) Rae

Naugatuck- Mary E. (Torlai) Rae, 66, passed away Wednesday, May 3, 2023.

        Mary was born in Arlington, MA, on September 6, 1956, and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret (Coveney) Torlai.  She had been a Naugatuck resident for the past 30 years. Mary graduated from St. Mary’s School of Nursing in Waterbury and worked as a nurse for the State of Connecticut, retiring after 30 years of service.  Mary was a communicant of St. Peter Church of the St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, cooking, going to concerts, and trips to the beach. Mary had a great love for her family and enjoyed weekly family dinners with them.

        Survivors include a grandson, Michael J. Rae of Naugatuck; two brothers, James A. Torlai of Naugatuck and David R. Torlai and his wife, Jane-Marie, of Torrington; a sister, Debra A. Torlai of Torrington; a daughter-in-law, Loreville Rae of Waterbury, a nephew Stephen Torlai and nieces Katherine and Jacqueline Torlai of Torrington as well as several cousins. Mary was predeceased by her son, Wayne A. Rae, Jr., her brother, Michael J. Torlai, and husband Edwin E. Drew Jr.

        Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 10:00a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Peter Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, May 9, 2023, from 6:00 to 8:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
