Matthias Auer

Torrington- Matthias Auer, 91, passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Ursula M. (Mucha) Auer.

        Mr. Auer was born in Yugoslavia on October 28, 1929, son of the late Frank and Barbara (Kersch) Auer, and had been a Torrington resident for over 65 years. After immigrating to the United States in 1954, he was employed in the masonry trade. He was also a retired heat treater with the Torrington Company, retiring with 38 years of service. Mr. Auer enjoyed watching TV and movies, especially old cowboy movies.

        Survivors include four children, Matthias F. Auer and his wife, Yaneth, of Torrington, George Holewik and his wife, Cassandra, of Philadelphia, PA, Natalie Holewik-Colucci of Torrington, and Eugene Zogala of Torrington; four grandchildren, Jaclyn Colucci, Anthony Colucci, Matthias R. Auer, and Ulani Auer; a sister, Rossel Bader of Austria; a great-grandson, Leo Lehnus; and several nieces and nephews.

        Funeral services and burial in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington, will be held privately. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
