Torrington- Michael John Stolicny, 65, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington.
Michael was born in Torrington on August 21, 1957, son ofUrania M. (Hurrey) Stolicny of Torrington and the late Stephen M. Stolicny, Sr., and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a carpenter by trade and had also worked as a rural route carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and as a manager of the Torrington distribution center of the Hartford Courant. Michael was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Oliver Wolcott Technical High School, Torrington, and was a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church, Torrington.
Michael will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor. He loved music, trips to Cape Cod, fishing, wildlife, spiritual sayings, motivational speakers, and had a great love for family, especially his son, granddaughter, and mother.
Survivors, in addition to his mother, Urania, include a son, Brandon M. Stolicny and his partner, Elizabeth Hall, of Collinsville; a granddaughter, Marley L. Stolicny; a brother, Stephen M. Stolicny, Jr., of Torrington; a sister, Diane M. Plourde and her husband, Craig, of Meriden; a nephew, Nathan C. Thermer and his wife Kathleen of Bristol; a great nephew and godson, Jacob Thermer of Bristol; a great niece, Hannah Thermer of Bristol; a great nephew Carlos Cadena of Bristol; numerous cousins, many of which were like siblings to him; and his longtime friend and companion, Pamela Root of Harwinton. He was predeceased by a great nephew Tyler Conroy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, March 10, 2023, at 1:00p.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
