Torrington- Monica D. Eschenbrenner, 90, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, February 20, 2026 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late George J. Eschenbrenner.
Mrs. Eschenbrenner was born in Torrington on May 10, 1935, daughter of the late George and Anna (Grinc) Vasko, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart School and Torrington High School. Mrs. Eschenbrenner had been an active Parishioner at the former Sacred Heart Church and was a Communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. She worked part time at J.C. Penney as a salesperson, and in her spare time enjoyed crosswords and puzzles. Mrs. Eschenbrenner will be remembered for her love and devotion to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Mark G. Eschenbrenner and his partner, Martha McLellan of Norfolk, and John M. Eschenbrenner and his wife, Lori Eschenbrenner, of Canton; a daughter, Nancy A. Eschenbrenner of Newington; two grandchildren, Leah Eschenbrenner and Lauren Eschenbrenner; a sister-in-law, Katherine Abraham; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Mrs. Eschenbrenner was predeceased by a brother, Albert Vasko; and four sisters, Margaret Longhi, Mary Dembkoski, Ann Vasko, and Theresa DuPont.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 at 10:15a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, Torrington, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Friday morning from 9:00 to 10:15a.m. at the funeral home.
