Nancy A. (Van Valkenburg) DeSanti

Torrington- Nancy A. DeSanti, 67, passed away Monday, February 10, 2025 at her home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Russell A. DeSanti, Jr. who passed on September 15, 2024.

        Nancy was born in New Haven on December 5, 1957, daughter of the late John and Eileen (Dorman) Van Valkenburg, and had been a Torrington resident since 1962. She was a retired school bus driver with Ryder Transportation for 20 years, and also drove the Candystriper bus with Kelly Transit.

        Survivors include her children: son Michael Carr (Kate) and granddaughters Alicia, Sydney and Elizabeth of Bantam; son Anthony Van Valkenburg (Renee) and grandson Duncan of New Jersey; daughter Samantha Butler and her husband, Daniel Crowley and grandchildren James Butler, Madeline and Wilkin Crowley; Stepson Christopher DeSanti (Nicole) and granddaughters Emily, Allyson, Jennifer, Quinn and Tanner; her sister Diane Pretak and her husband Stephen; and nephews Stephen Pretak (Stephanie) and Gregory Pretak (Jessica).

        There are no calling hours. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
