Torrington- Norell Gudaitis, 96, passed away Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington.
Mrs. Gudaitis was born in Opelika, AL, on March 28, 1928, daughter of the late Jesse and Gertrude (Collins) Taylor, and had been a Torrington area resident since 1952. Norell enjoyed painting, singing, knitting, and socializing with friends. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Norell loved singing for the public whenever she had the chance. She spent countless hours knitting hats and scarves for family, friends and for the local police and fire departments. Norell, over the years, had her folk-art style paintings exhibited throughout the state in libraries, galleries and on Personaland.com.
Survivors include three sons, Michael Fields of Hubbardton, VT, Albert Fields, Jr., of Bristol, and Alvin Fields, Sr., of Winsted; 7 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Gudaitis was predeceased by Pearl Taylor Adams, Woodrow Taylor, Elizabeth Taylor Allen, Jessie J. Taylor, Romiles Taylor, Johnnie Taylor, Charles Taylor, Mary Frances Taylor Brown, Willie B. Taylor, Miller Taylor, Dorothy Taylor Morris and David Lee Taylor.
Services will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 9:30a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Friday, May 31, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
