Patricia Corrado-Shuhi

Torrington- The incomparable Patricia K. Corrado-Shuhi, 71, found peace in the early morning of Saturday, February 3, 2024, with her beloved and cherished life partner Ronald D. Rotondo by her side.

        Patricia was born in Torrington on December 7, 1952; the only child of Martin A. Corrado and Gertrude M. (Murphy) Corrado. A lifelong Torrington resident, she dedicated her time, effort and energy to contributing towards the nurturing of the students of the Torrington Public Schools as well as for those of Regional School District 10 (Har-Bur), retiring with over 40 years of service as an educator, guidance counselor and student advocate. Her consistent commitment to the continued growth, progress and enrichment of others extended beyond her work with children, through her dedication to those attending classes and programs facilitated by Foothills Adult & Continuing Education.

        The relationships that she shared with her family, friends and colleagues were treasured and held at the highest regard. She prioritized being present for each person, each conversation, always listening intently and without judgement, holding one’s trust in her as the greatest honor and privilege. The guidance and wisdom that she imparted was always sound and sincere. She bravely combatted loss after loss, obstacle after obstacle, with a fierce unwavering determination and an unparalleled quiet grace. She chose to lead with gratitude, always identifying the blessings within each tragic lesson.

        Her children were her life. They were her heart. They were her sole motivation to persevere, and her greatest priority. Ensuring their happiness was paramount, with each choice and decision guided by her insistence that she provide them with a beautiful, full and enriching life.

        Patricia is survived by her daughter Mikaela Beth Shuhi and her partner Jonathan Michael Boyd of Taunton, MA, as well as her son Jordan Michael Shuhi and his wife, Sun Mi Son, of Brooklyn, NY, who will soon be welcoming Patricia’s first grandchild (girl).

        A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.

        In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Visiting Nurse & Hospice of Litchfield County or Friendly Hands Food Bank Inc.
