Patricia A. (Byrnes) Seymour

Harwinton- Patricia A. Seymour, formerly Patricia A. Weingart, 82, passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital, VA. For the past 30 years she called King George, Virginia home with her beloved husband Bill R. Seymour. She was predeceased by her first husband Earl D. Weingart of Harwinton. 

        Survivors, in addition to her husband, Bill, include two sons, Earl “Mike” Weingart of Harwinton, and Gregory J. Weingart and his wife, Ramona, of Harwinton; a daughter, Heidi E. Roma and her husband, Michael, of Harwinton; four grandchildren, Zachary and Deegan Roma, and Phillip and Tanya Weingart, of Harwinton; a brother, John “Jack” Byrnes, Jr., and his wife, Hilarie, of Indian Hills, CO; a sister, Veronica Marshall and her husband, Johan Bartsch of Bennett, CO; and many nieces and nephews. 

        Patricia was born in Waterbury on August 18, 1942, daughter of the late John E. Byrnes, Sr., and Elizabeth (Gannutz) Byrnes. After years of moving, she married Earl and made a home in Harwinton, where she lovingly raised their three children.

        In time, she went to work at Commercial Sewing, then Community Systems. After marrying Bill, she moved to Virginia, where she worked as a Financial Specialist at BAE Systems in the Defense Industry. 

        Patti loved animals, gardening, cooking, and homemaking. Her home was always open and welcomed the neighborhood children for whom she shared a jar of peanut butter with her homemade jellies. While in Harwinton, she volunteered as a cub scout, brownie, and girl scout leader. She also belonged to the Harwinton Women’s club. 

        Throughout her life she rescued many stray cats and dogs. After retirement this became her passion and like the neighborhood children, she and her husband Bill could not turn any away.

        Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 837 Charles St., Torrington. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Harwinton. Friends may call Friday, June 20, 2025, from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.
