Harwinton- Robert E. Hubbard, 83, passed away Friday, October 22, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington.
Mr. Hubbard was born in Torrington on March 25, 1938, son of the late Winthrop and Anna (Bortugno) Hubbard, and had been a lifelong area resident. He was a U.S. National Guard Veteran. Mr. Hubbard was graduate of Oliver Wolcott Tech School and a retired construction superintendent and Union carpenter. He was a member of the First Litchfield Artillery for over 50 years. Mr. Hubbard taught Hunter Safety at Thomaston Fish and Game Club for many years. He enjoyed photography, art, and was skilled craftsman. Mr. Hubbard will be remembered for his kind, generous, and social personality.
Survivors include his life partner, Carol Hubbard; two daughters, Joy Hubbard-Bobrowski and her husband, Tim, of Middletown, and Amy White and her partner, Dean Roberts, of Washington; two grandchildren, Danielle Chase and her husband, Chris, of Bantam, and Hanna Tanuis and her husband, Jarred, of Warren; a brother, Richard Hubbard and his wife, Lorraine, of Danville, VA; four great-grandchildren, Raylee, Colten, Brodie, and Beau; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Hubbard was predeceased by a brother, John Hubbard, and a sister, Frances Crockett.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 10:30a.m. at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St., Torrington. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow at Bantam Borough Hall, 890 Bantam Rd., Bantam. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
