TORRINGTON - Robert R. Salinardi, 84, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026. Bob was born in Naugatuck and later made his home in Torrington, where he graduated from Torrington High School.
After high school, Bob enjoyed playing baseball, including All-Star baseball with the Waterville Red Wings and time playing in the instructional league in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was later drafted into the United States Air Force, where he served his country for four years.
Upon returning to Torrington, Bob began his career in sales. He worked for A. Gallo before spending the remainder of his career with Dwan Company, Inc., distributor of Eagle Snacks and Budweiser products. During his many years there, Bob formed lasting friendships and considered his coworkers part of his family.
Bob was an avid UConn Huskies fan and often greeted friends with his enthusiastic expression, "UConn Baby!" He loved sports throughout his life, especially baseball, and was also a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Those who knew Bob will remember his humor and familiar greetings, often saying "Hey, babe," or jokingly asking, "What, do you hate me?"
He was predeceased by his parents, Mary Pollack Salinardi and Andy Salinardi; his younger brother, James; and his grandmother, Anna Donne.
Bob leaves behind his Dwan Company, Inc. family and many friends.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 9:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Harwinton. Burial will be private.
