Robert "Corky" Root

Torrington- Robert A. “Corky” Root, 68, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2020 at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington.

        Corky was born in Torrington on September 28, 1952, son of the late Robert and Ann Root, and had been a lifelong city resident. He was a retired machinist with the Torrington Company, retiring with 30 years of service. Corky was a member of the UAW Local #1645, where he had served as a past Treasurer. He enjoyed gardening, puzzles, reading, computer games, and listening to Rock n Roll, especially The Stones.

        Survivors include his significant other, Noreen Boisvert of Torrington; and a brother, James Root of Las Vegas, NV.

        A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, for the wonderful care shown to Corky over the 21 years he was a resident.

        Graveside services will be held Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 2:00p.m. at New St. Francis Cemetery, 863 S. Main St., Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
