Roy J. Casavant, Sr.

Torrington- Roy J. Casavant, Sr., 76, passed away Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center, Torrington. He was the beloved husband of the late Zenida (Aguilar) Casavant.

          Mr. Casavant was born in Torrington on October 7, 1947, son of the late Gedeon and Doris (Fectau) Casavant. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, serving from 1967-1971. From 1971-1988, he resided in Texas, before moving back to Connecticut. He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington, and was an avid sports enthusiast.

          Survivors include three sons, Roy J. Casavant, Jr. of Minneapolis, MN, Ricky G. Casavant and his wife, Liz, of Ft. Worth, TX, and Brian W. Casavant and his wife, Lucy, of Burlington; two brothers, Robert J. Casavant and his wife, Joan, of Old Saybrook, and Ronald J. Casavant and his wife, Donna, of Torrington; a sister, Doreen Roy and her husband, Bill, of Barkhamsted; three grandchildren, Tasha M. Touhey, Kiley N. Touhey, and Alex J. Casavant; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Casavant was predeceased by a daughter, Amanda Casavant.

          Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 25, 2023, at 10:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington for a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00a.m. Burial will be private. Friends may call Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30a.m. at the funeral home.

          At the request of the family, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
