Sabrina Lacy Obituary

Torrington- Sabrina Ann Lacy, 66, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025, at the West Haven Veterans Administration Hospital. She was the wife of the late Gerald Lacy.

        Sabrina was born in Winsted on July 13, 1958, daughter of the late Albert G. LaMere and Viola P. Rice, and had been a Torrington resident since the age of 5. She was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving 8 years and reaching the rank of Specialist. Sabrina was an active member of Workman Memorial AME Zion Church, Torrington, where she served various in roles and organizations such as Sunday School Teacher, Church Secretary, Church Home Mission, and Women’s Home Overseas Mission, and as a Lay Council Member. She also served as an Assistant Girl Scout Leader and volunteered at Feed the Needy. Sabrina loved gardening, crossword puzzles, children, watching classic black sitcoms, “who-dunnits”, Hallmark Christmas movies, and loved her pets, Sadie and Mr. Binx.

        Survivors include a son, Preston T. Lacy and his wife, Chelsea, of Torrington; two daughters, Lacyann LaMere and her husband, Andres, of Waterford and Sapphire O. Riddick-Lacy of Torrington; a grandson, Elliot M. Robertson; four siblings, Cheryl LaMere and her husband, Chris Decker, of Inglis FL, Albert LaMere of Torrington, Kenneth LaMere of Arlington, TX, and Kevin LaMere of Torrington; and several nieces and nephews. Sabrina was predeceased by her husband, parents, and her step-father, Preston L. Cahoon.

        Services will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 11:00a.m. at Workman Memorial AME Zion Church, 60 Brightwood Ave., Torrington. Full Military Honors will be accorded immediately before the beginning of church services.
