Sharon Lee (Sixberry) Kitney

Torrington- Sharon Lee Kitney, 73, passed away Friday, September 24, 2021 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of Brian L. Kitney.

        Mrs. Kitney was born in Syracuse, NY, on December 20, 1947, daughter of the late Grover Sixberry, Sr., and Natalie (Myers) Sixberry. She had resided in Hancock, NY, and had resided in Stratford for 20 years, before moving to Torrington 2 ½ years ago. Mrs. Kitney was a U.S. Army Vietnam Conflict Veteran and a retired proprietor of her own video store. She enjoyed ceramics, trips to the casino, watching Judge Judy, and most of all, spending time with her grandchildren.

        Survivors, in addition to her husband, Brian, include a son, Brian Kitney and his wife, Dawn, of Thomaston; three daughters, Kelly Hinton and her fiancé, Rico Casiano, of Bridgeport, Shari Finnegan and her husband, James, of PA, and Kristal Kitney of Torrington; two brothers, Grover Sixberry, Jr., of Fulton, NY, and David Sixberry and his wife, Audra, of Mexico, NY; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Rogers, Jessica Gomes, Shandee Lee, Kaylie Kitney, Courtney Kitney, Tabitha Lee, and Victoria Finnegan; a great-grandson, Adonis Pichette; a special niece, Natalie Sixberry, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mrs. Kitney was predeceased by two brothers, John Sixberry and Steven Sixberry; a sister, Lila Weiland; and her grandson, Eric Lachorite.

        Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 6:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. at the funeral home.
