Torrington- Shirley A. Calver, 80, passed away Saturday, October 31, 2020, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert K. Calver.
Mrs. Calver was born in Torrington on March 1, 1940, daughter of the late Anthony and Tessie (Garwych) Fulop, and had been a lifelong city resident. She was the retired proprietor of Bijoux Women’s Boutique in Torrington for 26 years. She had a passion for Fashion, taking trips to New York City to bring Connecticut the latest styles. Alongside her business, she was very passionate about her grandchildren, making sure they always had love, and cookies left in the cookie jar.
Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Calver; a brother, Robert A. Fulop, both of Torrington; two grandchildren, Alexander X. Calver of Plainville and Laura E. Calver of Torrington; friends and former daughters-in-law, Jessica Calver of Plainville and Rebecca Good of Torrington; and special neighbors and friends Carol and Larry Dauphinais of Torrington. Mrs. Calver was predeceased by a son, Robert A. Calver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 5, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
