Tyreece "Ty" Arnez Bitting

Tyreece "Ty" Arnez Bitting, 42, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at his home in Torrington, CT. Tyreece was born in New Haven, CT on May 12, 1982, son of Darrell Spears Sr. and Brenda (Bitting) Johnson. He was employed by Carelon Behavioral Health as a Care Coordinator.  Ty was a lifelong resident of Torrington. As an adolescent, he was very active and took interest in many things. Ty tapped danced for several years competing in competitions. He wanted to “play jazz” and learned saxophone and piano. Ty attended Torrington High School where he played sport, football, basketball, and volleyball. Ty received a volleyball scholarship and went on to play collegiate volleyball at Hesser College, where he received his degree in Communications.  Ty was a die-hard UConn Huskies, Yankees, and San Francisco 49ers fan. He would debate you that UConn was the best college team in the Nation, even on a not so great season. Ty loved family time; going to the movies, the beach, and sporting events with his wife Chrissy and their daughter Skylar. Ty was truly a girl-dad.

          He is survived by his wife Christine (Castellini) Bitting, daughter Skylar Bitting, mother Brenda Johnson, (step-father) Rev. Kevin Johnson of Torrington, Grandmother Geneva Bitting, Sisters Brianne Johnson and Arelisha Wright, Father Darrel Spears, Sr., Brother Darrell Spears Jr.; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and family.

          Tyreece was predeceased by his grandfather Al Joseph Bitting, Aunt Vera Alexine Spears, great-grandparents Emanuel Bitting, Kate (Cates) Bitting

          Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at Workman Memorial AME Zion Church, 60 Brightwood Ave., Torrington. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday morning from 9:00 to 11:00a.m. at Workman Memorial AME Zion Church. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
