Torrington- Urania M. Stolicny (Reini), 94, passed away Monday, May 19, 2025, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, Torrington. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen M. Stolicny, Sr.
Mrs. Stolicny was born in South Kent on November 26, 1930, daughter of the late Alexander and Mary (Tirpak) Hurrey, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. She had been a communicant of the former Sacred Heart Church, Torrington, a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association, and was a former member of the Columbiettes. Mrs. Stolicny loved fine dining, watching golf on TV, talking with her friends especially Pamela Root of Harwinton, and most of all, caring for and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Stephen M. Stolicny, Jr., of Torrington; a daughter, Diane M. Plourde and her husband, Craig, of Meriden; two grandchildren, Nathan Thermer and his wife, Kathy, and Brandon Stolicny and his partner, Liz; four great-grandchildren, C.J. Cadena, Hannah Thermer, Jacob Thermer, and Marley Stolicny. Mrs. Stolicny was predeceased by a son, Michael J. Stolicny; a grandson, Tyler Conroy; and 4 brothers George Hurrey, Stephen Hurrey, Frank Hurrey and Maxwell Hurrey and 3 sisters, Katherine Bossone, Anne Michalowski and Marion Hurrey.
Funeral services and burial in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington, will be private.
