Virginia E. Call

Torrington-Virginia E. “Ginny” Call, 76, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Valerie Manor, Torrington. 

          Virginia was born in Southbridge, MA, on October 10, 1943, daughter of the late Grady and Katherine (Gaherty) Call and had been a Torrington area resident for over 35 years.  She was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church of St. John Paul the Great Parish, Torrington. Ginny enjoyed the ocean and boating in her younger years, trips to Block Island and Newport, RI.  She was employed at Caldor’s jewelry counter until their closing and then at Dress Barn until her retirement. She was very close to her mother and devoted to her care until her passing in 2007.     

          The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Ginny's caregiver, Sophia Amoah, and the nurses and staff at Valerie Manor for the care shown to Ginny during her stay.

          Survivors include sister-in-law, Patricia Call of Torrington; two nieces, Jodi Ruot and Kelly Kacmarcik and her husband Steve Jr; a nephew Eric Call and his wife Amy; and several grand nieces and grand nephews. Ginny was predeceased by a brother, David Call.

          A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, October 15, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Francis of Assisi Church, 160 Main St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home 258 Prospect St., Torrington is in care of arrangements.
