Virginia "Ginger" (Fass) Krause

Torrington - Virginia “Ginger” Krause, 66, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2023, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of James A. Krause for the past 46 years.

        Ginger was born in Torrington on March 30, 1956, daughter of the late James and Doris (Knoth) Fass, and had been a lifelong city resident. After graduating with her Associates Degree from Northwestern Community College she worked as Securities Operation Manager for Shawmut Bank. After taking time off to raise her family she worked as a Program Aide for Head Start. For many years she was involved with Girl Scouting as a Troop Leader. Ginger enjoyed swimming, especially spending summers swimming at West Hill Lake, her “Happy Place”.  She looked forward to her yearly Disney trip.  Ginger cared about everyone she met, and always put others before herself.

        Survivors, in addition to her husband, James, include a son, Jeffrey (Brianna) Krause, of Norwich; two daughters, Victoria Krause and her partner, Dustin Puhalski, of Avon, and Katherine (Michael) Fraher, of Orange; a brother, James (Janet) Fass, of Seminole, FL; three sisters, Nancy Bleakney of Torrington, Lynn  (Jack) Stephen, of Sun City Center, FL, and Cindy Fass of Torrington; six grandchildren, Evan, Carter, James, Kinsley, Sutton, and Thomas; and many nieces and nephews.

        Services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2023, at 3:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Friends may call Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 3:00p.m. at the funeral home.
