Harwinton- Walter E. Mucha, Sr., 88, passed away Monday, May 31, 2021, at UConn Medical Center, Farmington. He was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth M. (Sowa) Mucha.
Mr. Mucha was born in Katowice, Poland, on October 16, 1932, son of the late Jan and Margarete (Szymczyk) Mucha, and had been a Harwinton resident for over 55 years. He was a retired machinist with the Torin Company and EMSCO Manufacturing. Mr. Mucha was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, of Our Lady of Hope Parish, Harwinton. He was and a member of the Polish National Alliance, enjoyed fixing and tinkering with things, gardening, and watching European soccer leagues.
Survivors include two sons, Gerald W. Mucha and his wife, Maria, of West Hartford, and Walter E. Mucha, Jr., and his wife, Victoriya, of Harwinton; a brother, Rudolph Mucha and his wife, Carol, of Torrington; five grandchildren, Tyler, Rachel, Sebastian, Dimitry and Alexis; a great granddaughter, Julia, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 3, 2021, at 11:15a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00p.m. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Thursday morning from 9:30 to 11:15a.m. at the funeral home.
