Torrington- Wanda Jane McKeon, RN, BSRN, 81, passed away Monday, February 2, 2026, at Torrington Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was the beloved wife of John D. “Jack” McKeon, and had recently celebrated their 56th Wedding Anniversary in May of 2025.
Mrs. McKeon was born in Queens, NY, on December 7, 1944, daughter of the late Henry and Wanda (Lyczko) Bishevsky, and had been a Torrington resident for the past 52 years. She was a retired Registered Nurse with the Charlotte Hungerford Hospital Oncology Department, Torrington Public & Private School Nurse and longtime Camp Nurse at BSA Camp Workcoeman where she spent many summers. Mrs. McKeon was a Communicant of St. John Paul the Great Parish (Formerly St. Peters), Torrington, the New Hartford Catholic Women’s Club, and in her younger years was a Boy and Girl Scout Leader. In her spare time, she enjoyed horseback riding in her younger years cooking, crocheting, and being her son’s biggest supporter in their athletic and social activities.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, Jack, include two sons, Connor J. McKeon and his wife, Kellie, of Londonderry, NH, and Michael P. McKeon and his wife, Amy, of Ellington; a brother, William Bishevsky and his wife, Judith, of Sherman, ME; Brother-in-Law James G McKeon and his wife Joan of New Canaan, CT; five grandchildren, Mason McKeon, Mallory McKeon, Mylie McKeon, Ruby McKeon, and Thomas McKeon; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 10:00a.m. at St. Peter Church, 107 E. Main St., Torrington. Burial in St. Charles Cemetery, Farmingdale, Long Island, will take place later in the week. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
