Avon- William “David” Romani, 72, passed away Sunday, August 13, 2023, at Hartford Hospital. He was the beloved partner of John Vounatso.
David was born in Chattanooga, TN, on January 4, 1951, son of the late William and Mary (Lee) Romani, and had been an Avon area resident most of his life. David was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. He was a retired funeral director and professor, teaching Mortuary Science at Briarwood College, and had also operated Limousines Unlimited Inc. David was a car enthusiast and enjoyed collecting cars and auto memorabilia. He was the past President of the Hupmobile Club and was very active in club activities.
Survivors, in addition to his partner, John, include two sisters, Susan Brenner and her husband, Michael, of Lakeville, and Peg Mayer and her husband, Charlie, of Avon; two nephews, Michael William Brenner and Chuck Mayer, their respective wives, and many aunts, cousins, and worldwide friends.
Services will be held Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 12:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial with full Military Honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Saturday, August 26, 2023, from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. at the funeral home.
