Torrington- Julia E. Kandefer, 92, died Thursday, October 13, 2016 in her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel H. Kandefer, Sr.

        Mrs. Kandefer was born in Norwich on January 9, 1924, daughter of the late William and Agnes (Michulec) Rybak, and had been a Torrington resident for over 85 years. Julia was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, a member of the St. Mary’s Ladies Guild, enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She will be remembered for her love of family and her great talents as a seamstress.

        Survivors include a son, Daniel H. Kandefer, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann, a daughter, Julianne Winters and her husband Dana, all of Torrington, two granddaughters, Mary Alice Gendreau and her husband David and Christine Kersten and her husband Michael, three great-grandchildren, Noah Gendreau, Melina Kersten, and Braelyn Kersten, a brother, Frank Rybak and his wife Betty of Harwinton, three nephews, and one niece.

        A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, October 17, 2016 at 10:30a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 85 Pulaski St., Torrington. Burial will follow in New St. Francis Cemetery, Torrington. Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington, is in care of arrangements.
