St. Clair, MO- Jeanette Bartley, 78, died Sunday, January 8, 2017 at St. Clair Nursing Center.
Jeanette was born to Eric and Wanda (Schutt) Haas in Torrington, Connecticut where she grew up and graduated from Litchfield High School. She moved to various places in Connecticut, including Danbury, Brookfield, Naugatuck, Goshen, and Morris before expanding her travels nationwide.
Her work mainly included typesetting, office management, and clerical work. She loved her many years as secretary of Salem Lutheran Church in Naugatuck and Bunker Hill Congregational Church in Waterbury. Later in life, Jeanette studied nursing and worked in elderly home care.
Her interests included knitting, crocheting, playing the piano, church functions and watching any and all UCONN basketball games. She was always in the middle of a book, often two or three at a time. She was an intelligent, passionate, funny, strong, loving, and generous mother, grandmother, and friend. Her faith never wavered nor did her love for animals.
Although we are heartbroken, we take comfort in the fact that she is at peace with other family members and beloved pets. She is survived by her four sons; Kevin Bartley of Round Rock, TX, Bryan Bartley of Savannah, GA, Darrell Bartley of Bastrop, TX, and Neal Bartley of Rockport, ME; two sisters, Constance “Connie” Travers of Warren, CT and Cheryl Woods of Torrington, CT and two granddaughters; Amy and Kaitlyn, along with numerous friends who will deeply miss her.
An informal graveside ceremony will be held at Hillside Cemetery, 76 Walnut St. Torrington, CT on Friday January 20, 2017 at 11:00am.
