Mark Lucas

September 27, 1958 ~ September 10, 2015 (age 56) 56 Years Old

Torrington- Mark Lucas, 56, died Thursday, September 10, 2015 at UConn Medical Center, Farmington. He was the beloved husband of Taraleigh (Spiess) Lucas.

Mark was born in Torrington on September 27, 1958, son of the late Matthew and Marguerite (Case) Lucas, and had been a lifelong Torrington resident. He was an engineer with the Torrington Company for 28 years before leaving the company in 2000 due to relocation. Mark was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church, and an avid sports fan, often proudly displaying his fandom of the Rams, Celtics, and Red Sox. He loved music in all of its forms and capacities, and was even known to some as the “music man”. Mark fought a long battle with various medical issues, but through his hardships the jovial and magnetic nature of his personality never faded and he was always packed full of his famous puns.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Kyle M. Lucas of Torrington, two sisters, Anne Lucas of Winsted and Debra Sweet of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 11:00a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 220 Prospect St., Torrington. Burial will follow in Trinity Memorial Garden. Friends may call Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 5:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington.

Memorial contributions may be made to a fund to be created, which will be used to help children purchase music instruments that they are unable to afford on their own, c/o Taraleigh Lucas, 147 Brightwood Ave., Apt. 2, Torrington, CT 06790
