Mary (Kordowski) Sawulak

Torrington- Mary Wienckowski Sawulak, 92, died Thursday, September 10, 2015, in her home.

Mrs. Sawulak was born in Poland on September 27, 1922, daughter of the late Maksymiljan and Maria (Kizewska) Kordowski, and had been a Torrington resident since 1994. Mary was a retired seamstress with the United Uniform Co. in Buffalo, NY. She was a communicant of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Harwinton, enjoyed sewing, helping family, and making new friends.

Survivors include two sons, Henry Wienckowski and his wife Hermania of San Antonio, TX, and Edward Wienckowski and his wife Carrie of Westfield, MA, six grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Mary Heathcoe.

Mary, or ‘Babcia’, as she was known to most, endeared herself to all who met her.  She will surely be missed.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 9:30a.m. from Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home, 258 Prospect St., Torrington to Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 78 Litchfield Rd., Harwinton, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery, Torrington. Friends may call Tuesday, September 15, 2015 from 4:00p.m. to 7:00p.m. at Gleeson-Ryan Funeral Home.
